PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court(PHC) has fixed the hearing of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf’s petition to conduct an election under the judiciary’s supervision and issued notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The petition was filed by PTI’s central spokesperson Muazzam Butt, Advocate.
The case was heard by Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and Justice Shakeel Ahmed.
Last day, the court had ordered to challenge the Election Commission’s notice in the hearing of PTI’s request to conduct the elections under judicial supervision. The court said that this is a national issue and directed to submit a supplementary petition.
The Chief Justice said, “We will not allow anyone to delay the election, we will not delay the election by one day more or less than the scheduled date”.
Today, PTI’s counsel amended the petition and sought suspension of the notification.
The High Court fixed the petition for hearing on December 18, the court sought a response from the Election Commission and the Advocate General’s Office.
