WhatsApp has expanded its privacy features by extending the View Once functionality to voice messages. Initially introduced in 2021 for photos and videos, this feature ensures that voice messages disappear after being listened to, enhancing privacy for users.
Whether sharing sensitive information like credit card details or planning a surprise, users can now transmit such details over voice messages with added peace of mind.
Consistent with View Once photos and videos, these voice messages are distinctly marked with a “one-time” icon and can only be played once, as mentioned in a company blog.
As with all personal messages, WhatsApp maintains end-to-end encryption for voice messages by default, demonstrating the platform’s commitment to ongoing privacy innovation. Users can continue to rely on WhatsApp for secure and private communication.
