ISLAMABAD: The power division constituted a four-member inquiry committee to probe the controversial power theft drive of the power distribution companies (DISCOs) defrauding of billions of rupees through overbilling.
The notification for the formation of the committee has been issued by the Power Division.
According to the notification, former Secretary of Power Division Irfan Ali will head the committee. Terms of Reference (TORs) of the committee were also issued by the Power Division.
The committee will review the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority(NEPRA) report based on DISCOS and PITC data. The sampling procedure for the NEPRA investigation will also be reviewed, and the issue of billing to electricity consumers for more than one month, the officers of the electricity companies and NEPRA’s investigation team will also be questioned.
The committee will formulate its recommendations within 15 days.

The committee will also determine the responsible persons for further action, the committee members include Managing Director NESPAK Muhammad Zargham Eshaq Khan, Abid Lodhi Consultant USAID, and former MD NTDC Dr. Fayaz Chaudhry are included in the committee.
