The federal government has decided to expand the scope of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and include the agricultural sector in it.
According to details, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on CPEC chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar reviewed the progress in implementation of ongoing projects.

The plan for the current financial year was discussed in the meeting. The inclusion of two new projects in the CPEC framework was also considered.
It may be recalled that the decision to expand the scope of CPEC was taken by the government at a time when Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is scheduled to visit Beijing in a few days.
Sources said that during the visit, the country’s priorities regarding CPEC will be discussed.
