KARACHI: Former finance minister Miftah Ismail is expected to join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bol News reported quoting sources as saying on Sunday.

The sources claimed Miftah Ismail would soon join the PPP. A team of senior PPP leaders was in touch with him, they said.

They said the PPP leadership had been taken into confidence on Miftah Ismail’s possible joining. Miftah had been the finance minister in the cabinet of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Miftah Ismail was reappointed as Finance Minister in 2022 and he resigned before Ishaq Dar’s arrival from London.

Miftah lately resigned from the party positions of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in June 2023.
