KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Nadeem Akhtar on Thursday said the lawyers of the petitioners were not preparing as enough as important the issue of illegal parking in Karachi was, Bol News reported.
The petitioner said illegal parking and excessive parking fees were being charged at 33 places in the metropolis. Illegal parking in South District was being run with the help of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and District Municipal Corporation (DMC), the petitioner said.
The plea claimed the traffic police were also involved in illegal parking across Karachi.
Hearing the petition against illegal parking, the SHC said it might also appoint a judicial assistant on the plea. It also instructed Mohammad Vawda Advocate to see the file.
“The issue of parking is also in the cantonment areas, but it has not been raised in the petitions,” the court remarked inquiring, “Can you tell us why the Cantonment Boards are not made a party, any specific reason?”
Counsel for the petitioner sought time for including Cantonment Boards in the petition. The court would issue instructions on the matter, Justice Nadeem Akhtar said.
