Mavis Christian, the suspect in the Memphis shooting that killed four female relatives and badly injured another, was discovered dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a police manhunt on November 19, 2023. The shootings took place at three different sites in Memphis.
Mavis Christian, 52 at the time of his death, was born in Memphis in 1971 and had a quiet upbringing with little knowledge about his parents, Mavis and Irene Christian. Ruby Christian was his sister. The suspect, who was of African-American origin, practised Christianity.
While information on Mavis Christian’s education is unknown, he is thought to be a high school graduate. He stood 5 feet 11 inches tall and was reported to be single at the time of his death, having previously been married to Tawanda Barron. Domestic problems between the two have been documented.
Mavis Christian’s work history is unclear, and he has kept a low profile on social media about his personal life. His net worth was unknown at the time of his death.
The sad incident began with a sequence of shootings that took four lives, including two ladies and a 13-year-old girl, and gravely injured a 15-year-old. Mavis Christian’s apparent suicide brought an end to a manhunt involving local, state, and federal authorities.
