Former federal minister Gohar Ayub Khan passes away

  • Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered on Saturday (tomorrow) at Haripur.

ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister and former Speaker National Assembly Gohar Ayub Khan passed away at the age of 86.

Family sources have confirmed Gohar Ayub’s death, his Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered on Saturday (tomorrow) at 3:00pm in Village Rehana, Haripur District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It should be noted that Gohar Ayub was the son of former Field Marshal President Ayub Khan and father of Secretary General Pakistan Tehreak Insaf (PTI) Omar Ayub.

Gohar Ayub Khan was born on January 15, 1937 in Rehana village of Haripur district. He was elected Speaker of the National Assembly on November 4, 1990 and held the position till October 17, 1993.

Gohar Ayub Khan has also served as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan from 1997 to 1998 during the government of Nawaz Sharif.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has expressed his condolences on the death of former foreign minister Gohar Ayub.
