In 2007, he married writer Anne Stringfield, whom he met while she was working as a fact-checker at The New Yorker. The ceremony was held at the couple’s Los Angeles home, which was kept secret until guests arrived, including Tom Hanks and Diane Keaton.

Stringfield, a Davidson College alumnus and former New Yorker contributor, is reserved in public. The duo is passionate about Aboriginal Australian art and will be exhibiting pieces in a 2019 exhibition.
