KARACHI: Sindh Health Department has confirmed another polio case in District East area of Karachi , the number of cases has reached to five this year in Pakistan.
Spokesperson Sindh Health Department said polio virus has been confirmed in a 31-month-old child in District East Karachi. The affected child belongs to Union Council Gujro in Gadap Town.
The Ministry of Health says that the fourth case was also reported from Union Council Gujro this year.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health said that polio targets children with low immunity, working together with partners in the fight against polio.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, the government is ensuring all the necessary measures to eliminate polio, high-quality polio campaign is being organized in high-risk areas.
Caretaker Federal Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan said that steps are being taken on an emergency basis to eradicate polio.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world where polio continues to threaten the health and well-being of children.
