A Los Angeles man, who used to own a fancy watch business called Gentlemen Timepieces in Beverly Hills, was arrested by the FBI on Tuesday. He’s accused of scamming his clients. Today, he appeared in court to address the charges.
Anthony Farrer got caught by the FBI and is being held until his first court hearing. They arrested him at a storage place in Venice. He was told about the charges, which could land him in federal prison for up to 20 years, and now he’s waiting for his day in court.
How did Anthony Farrer con his customers?
The investigators say the businessman took fancy watches from people, promising to sell them and only charge a small fee, around five percent of the selling price.
But instead, they say he sold the watches and used the money for a luxurious lifestyle in Los Angeles. This included lots of trips to Las Vegas for gambling and driving around in a red Lamborghini and Ducati motorcycle.

According to prosecutors, Mr. Farrer didn’t actually make the promised watches or would send a completely different one. They also said he kept the money from selling the watches for himself.
At least 20 people complained to law enforcement, saying they either didn’t get paid for the watches they handed over or never received any money from the sales as promised.
