The Islamabad High Court on Monday rejected the acquittal plea of three accused including former PPP minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin in the ephedrine case.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan issued a detailed judgment on this matter.
Additionally, the Islamabad High Court imposed a fine of Rupees 0.1 million on each of the three accused individuals.
The court has instructed the accused to submit the fine within 30 days.
This case pertains to a 2017 legal matter that has been brought before the court once again.
The Anti-Narcotics Force had registered a case related to ephedrine trafficking against the three accused back on October 11, 2011.
The three accused contended that ephedrine is not a drug, and thus, the case should be dismissed, leading to their acquittal.
It’s important to note that Ali Musa Gilani, the son of former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, is among the accused in this case.
This ruling marks a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding this ephedrine case.
