Australia then faced Germany in the final of this prestigious eight-nation event, after Germany’s 6-3 victory over India in the other semi-final. The final match was scheduled to be played later on the same day.

During the semi-final between Pakistan and Australia, the latter took an 18th-minute lead with Cooper scoring a crucial field goal. Broady further extended Australia’s lead in the 26th minute. Although Pakistan managed to reduce the deficit to 1-2 when Abdul Hanan Shahid struck a goal, they were unable to level the score.

In the earlier stages of the tournament, Pakistan garnered seven points in the pool stage by registering wins against New Zealand and Malaysia, both with identical margins of 3-2, in addition to a thrilling 3-3 draw against India.

The Sultan of Johor Cup delivered electrifying hockey action, with India’s triumphant bronze medal victory adding another chapter to the enduring rivalry between the neighboring nations and setting the stage for an exciting final between Australia and Germany.
