Greta Thunberg, the Swedish climate activist, has been found guilty of disobeying a police order and has been fined, marking the second time in three months that she has faced a conviction and a fine for the same offense.
Thunberg, aged 20, was directed to pay a fine of 4,500 Swedish crowns ($414) for her refusal to leave a climate protest on July 24, despite a police order instructing her to do so.
On the same day, she had already been fined 1,500 Swedish crowns for a similar offense.
Addressing a news conference after the verdict, Thunberg expressed her concerns, stating, “There are no laws to protect us in the long-term from the greed that tries to drag us over the cliff.”
She emphasized the desire of young people to protect their future from being jeopardized.
