The Punjab government has decided to implement Smart Lockdown in the province to check the spread of Coronavirus. Under the decision, markets, bazaars and plazas will be closed two to three days before Eid.

According to details, the Punjab government has decided to launch a smart lockdown on the occasion of Eid. In this regard, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has approved a smart lockdown.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Punjab Jawad Rafique in which arrangements for smart lockdown and implementation of SOPs in cattle markets were reviewed.

It was informed in the meeting that the smart lockdown before Eid would be sudden instead of prior announcement and markets and plazas would be closed two to three days before Eid while cattle markets, utility stores, dairy shops and medical stores would remain open.

The Chief Secretary said that there is a danger of spreading coronavirus due to shopping activities in the markets before Eid. The provincial government has decided to implement smart lockdown in the public interest keeping in view the experience of Eid-ul-Fitr. The decision has been made in the light of the federal government’s directives.

He directed to implement other SOPs including ban on entry of elderly persons, children in masked cattle markets, wearing of masks.
