Umar dismisses false impression comparing COVID-19 cases with testing capicity

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar dismissed the opinion that daily confirmed coronavirus cases have declined due to a reduction in the number of tests.

He took to his Twitter on Thursday and wrote:

Some saying cases are down only due to testing reduction. If positivity ratio was same as in mid june… 22% +, the 24,262 tests done yesterday would have resulted in 5,500 cases… Actual yesterday was 2,145.! Decline is primarily due to a nearly 60% reduction in positivity

Earlier Umar also said that;

In today’s meeting with CM punjab I complimented efforts made by punjab govt to control spread of Covid19 and improve health care capacity in the province. Also emphasized the need for continued vigilance for sop compliance, smart lockdowns and most importantly eid ul azha sop’s
