Russian forces launched at least six missiles at Zaporizhzhia, according to a statement released by the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office on Wednesday.
The type of missiles that were used are “currently being established,” the statement added.
The prosecutor’s office continued by claiming that the infrastructure in civilian areas had been seriously damaged by the missiles.
“One of the missiles hit between two high-rise buildings, partially destroying apartments and balconies, damaging roofs and breaking windows,” it said. “The blast wave and debris also damaged other nearby residential buildings, cars and other civilian infrastructure in the city.”
Several persons, according to the office, are still missing.
“The search and rescue operation is ongoing. People are trapped under the rubble, information about the victims is being updated,” it added.
A rocket attack on a residential building in Zaporizhzhia earlier claimed at least one life and hospitalized 25 others, according to the city’s acting mayor.
