Rental prices in many locations are skyrocketing as living expenditures continue to rise. As a result, an artist named Harrison Marshall decided to turn a waste container into a home in order to find an affordable place to live. Yep, you read that correctly! He even posted photos of his skip house to social media with the remark, ““SKIP HOUSE: Living in a skip for 1 year, in Central London.” Not only that, but he also hosted a’skip housewarming’ party, which was well attended. For those who are unfamiliar, a skip is a huge, open metal container used to store rubbish.

Harrison Marshall co-founded Caukin Studio, a design and construction social enterprise, according to his Instagram account. He also stated that he lives in a skip house in Central London, which he constructed out of a rubbish container.

Even his Instagram account, Skip House, where he chronicles his existence inside the skip, was created by the artist. The initiative, according to Marshall, “is about living for less” in London. Also, he said that the artwork ‘falls between between installation art and performance art.
