Rod Stewart cancels ‘The Hits’ tour amid viral infection

  • Rod Stewart canceled his tour amid illness.
  • He broke the news on Instagram.
  • He canceled his tour once before also.

Due to sickness, Rod Stewart had to postpone this weekend’s visit on his The Hits tour.

Before performing at the food, wine, and music event A Day on the Green in Victoria, Australia, the Grammy Award winner, 78, informed his 1.2 million Instagram followers on Saturday that he had a “viral infection” that had affected his throat and singing voice.

“Hello my friends,” he started in the statement. “I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green. Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing.”

“I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!” added Stewart.

He had previously tweeted a Live Nation statement confirming the cancellation and stating that Jon Stevens and Cyndi Lauper were supposed to perform with him. It stated, “A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week.”

Stewart will begin the Australian portion of his tour this coming Sunday at Day on the Green. He will then continue on to New Zealand the following month, with stops in Mexico, Las Vegas, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Spain, and North America in between.
