ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Inspector General of Police Nasir Akbar on Saturday said police had taken measures to stop any untoward accident during hearing of the Toshakhana case at the judicial complex, Bol News reported.

Addressing media on Sri Nagar Highway, Nasir Akbar said extraordinary measures were taken to ensure security of citizens as a terrorist incident took place two months ago in the federal capital city. Some other forces could misuse such occasions, he said expressing concern. In such a situation, there was a risk of attack from a terrorist group, he maintained.

He said security arrangements were made according to order of the court and police were directed to take special care of media’s security.

The Islamabad IG said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was given extremely well security on his last appearance at the Islamabad High Court (IHC). He also clarified that their purpose was not to stop PTI workers, but to maintain a balance in the court proceeding.

The IG avoided replying to a query about Imran Khan’s arrest. He requested the media to cooperate with the police. He said the routes would be opened as soon as the hearing would end.

“Section 144 is imposed in the city. Everyone knows that it is a high security movement, so cooperate with us. Our first priority is security of Islamabad. We are implementing the court orders for security,” he said.
