- Jake Drummond and Louise Lennon were found guilty.
- Of murdering 15-month-old Jacob Lennon.
- And inflicting or permitting child maltreatment.
Having been shaken and battered to death in Roehampton, a mother and her partner have been held responsible for the death of her 15-month-old son.
A “sadistic” assault was committed on Jacob Lennon in the days leading up to his passing on August 27, 2019.
Jake Drummond, 33, of Wandsworth, was found guilty at the Old Bailey of killing Jacob and intentionally injuring another person.
Louise Lennon, 32, of Roehampton, was found guilty of murdering Jacob and of inflicting or permitting child maltreatment.
Mr. Justice Sweeting, the court, extended Lennon’s bail.
The day of sentence was planned on April 24.
The toddler’s genitals were allegedly injured in “sadistic” ways during the assaults that preceded his murder, the jury was informed during the trial.
The court heard that Jacob’s face was so swollen from beatings that he seemed “like a panda,” and that his parents called his bedroom “the torture room” in jest.
On August 27, the boy’s mother contacted an ambulance and reported to the Old Bailey that her youngster had stopped breathing and was feeling ill.
Prosecutor Sally O’Neill KC to the jury that Drummond and Lennon provided misleading accounts of what brought on Jacob’s wounds that did not line up with what medical personnel could observe.
“His eyes were so swollen they were unable to open them,” she said, adding: “His eyes were so darkly bruised he looked like a panda.”
The court heard that Jacob had 20 marks from recent wounds on his head, face, and neck, as well as 11 on his upper limbs, 7 on his lower limbs, and 7 on his torso, which included a cut and puncture wound to his genitalia.
“It is the Crown’s case that Jake Drummond had embarked on a campaign of deliberately assaulting and hurting Jacob,” the prosecutor said.
