- Rolo, a male harp seal, was seen hanging out on a boat ramp
- He was dehydrated but otherwise unharmed.
- He is self-feeding and is close to being put back into the sea.
When a seal was seen hanging out on a boat ramp for three days before being taken for rehabilitation, it caused a stir in a New York community.
When someone in the public reported seeing a seal on a boat ramp close to Fire Island Avenue South, Environmental Conservation Police alerted the New York Marine Rescue Center.
Before deciding to bring the seal to its facility for evaluation, the rescue centre kept an eye on it for three days.
Rescuers gave the seal, which the locals had given the name “Sealia,” the new name “Rolo” after confirming that it was a male harp seal travelling through the area from the northern seas.
While Rolo was dehydrated, he was otherwise unharmed. Rolo is self-feeding, according to the rescue, and is probably close to being put back into the sea.
