Putin: Russia has more opportunities for business after sanctions

  • Putin stated that the Russian economy has more prospects than before sanctions.
  • And that those who stayed and worked hard proved to be wiser.
  • More enthusiastic, and more productive than those who left.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the country now has more prospects than it did before Western sanctions were put in place.

On the robustness of the Russian economy, Putin stated that despite some “structural challenges with logistics, financing, and technologies,” enormous potential are emerging in the nation for nearly any area of endeavor.

He continued by claiming that those who had stayed in Russia had shown to be “smarter” than those who had emigrated. “Those that stayed and worked hard proved to be wiser, more enthusiastic, and more productive than those who departed and offered advise to our naysayers.

After almost a year of severe western sanctions, official data indicate that the Russian economy shrank by 2.1% last year.

This was less than expected.

Nonetheless, the finance ministry reports that a $34 billion budget deficit is the result of increased expenses and falling receipts.
