A scene that reveals Pathaan’s origins was cut from the theatrical version, the director had admitted, among other scenes. The director also disclosed that for their special cameo scene on the train, he had requested Salman Khan to make a reference to his 1995 film Karan Arjun with Shah Rukh. He revealed to Hindustan Times: “Salman was instructed to yell “bhaag Pathaan bhaag” and to do so in the style of “bhaag Arjun bhaag” (from Karan Arjun). The screenplay didn’t include it. I had to persuade Salman to participate because it was hilarious. It was a lot of joy.”
