Power to critical infrastructure in Kharkiv fully restored

  • Engineers in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine are still working.
  • To repair the power system damaged by the Russian attack on Thursday.
  • With all private homes restored by Friday night and repairs being made to the public transportation system.

Engineers in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine are still working to repair the power system that was harmed by the severe Russian attack on Thursday, Oleh Synehubov, the head of the Kharkiv region military administration, said on Saturday.

According to Synehubov, all private homes in Kharkiv had power restored by Friday night, and repairs are being made to the city’s electric public transportation system.

The Kharkiv region’s Vovchansk, Stary Saltiv, and Slatyne still have 15,000 customers without energy, according to Synehubov, but “power companies will restore the power supply there in the near future.”

The second-largest city in Ukraine, Kharkiv, had roughly 500,000 consumers without electricity on Friday, according to Synehubov.

The complete power system in the city of Kharkiv is still being restored, according to a statement from the national energy firm Ukrenergo on Saturday.

Following urgent repairs, one of Ukrenergo’s trunk power grid facilities as well as one of the thermal power plants in Kharkiv has been largely restored.

Ukrenergo claimed the city’s vital infrastructure is completely energized but did not specify how many homes are still without electricity.

According to the company, work is still being done to restore the city and the region’s whole power supply.

Russia has been attempting for months to undermine Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure, but as we have previously noted, their attempts have been ineffective.
