LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday asked overseas Pakistanis to highlight violations of human rights in Pakistan around the world, Bol news reported.

“Human rights violations are being carried out in Pakistan at the moment. Political workers are being murdered in jail custody. Those torturing demand from them to leave Imran Khan,” he said while talking to the US core committee of PTI.

The former prime minister said currently there was no democracy in Pakistan. There was a need for elections for economic and political stability in Pakistan, he added.

“Overseas Pakistanis in the US are my pride. US Congressmen and senators should be apprised about the current situation of Pakistan,” he said adding that strict law existed in developed countries against such torture.

Imran Khan said they could not run away from elections as they had to be held anyway. He said restrictions were being placed on media. “The entire nation stands by a political party and all the status quo parties are united together,” he said.

The PTI chief also raised the issue of Bol News before the overseas Pakistanis.

On March 10, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) had suspended non-bailable arrest warrant issued by the judicial magistrate for Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for fortnight, Bol News had reported.

The BHC judge, Justice Zaheeruddin Kakar had sent notices to the parties. The hearing into the case would be held on a constitutional plea after two weeks. Zaheeruddin had asked the lawyers to present their power of attorney in the next hearing.

The PTI Balochistan had filed the plea in the high court challenging the case against Imran Khan. Advocated Syed Iqbal Shah in the petition argued that the case could not be filed in the Bijli Road police station.

The allegation upon which the case has been filed does not fall in jurisdiction of the said police station. Hence, the FIR should be abolished, he sought.
