Rishi Sunak announces new detention center in France

  • The UK and France are focusing on three issues: security, energy, and migration.
  • With a new detention facility and 500 additional officers to guard French beaches.
  • Drones and other surveillance technology will increase, according to Sunak.

While the relationship between the two countries has had its difficulties, today represents “a new beginning,” according to Rishi Sunak.

He talked about an ambitious future and added that the two leaders were currently concentrating on three issues: security, energy, and migration.

He unveils a new detention facility and 500 additional officers to guard French beaches as part of stepping up cooperation between the two nations to a previously unheard-of level.

Drones and other surveillance technology will increase, according to Sunak, and legislation that was introduced this week in the UK “supports this”.

Sunak continues by stating that the UK and France have a unique link when it comes to security and that the UK will always be at the fore in terms of defense.

“We’ve agreed to train Ukrainian marines, helping to give Ukraine a decisive advantage on the battlefield and for Ukraine to win this war.”

He claims that the UK and France will look at developing sophisticated weaponry like air defense and long-range weapons together.

“We will continue to stand together for freedom, democracy and the rule of law.”
