- And illegal immigration to create a durable and amicable peace.
- Macron declares that he wants to advance “lockstep” with the UK.
United Kingdom’s Rishi Sunak and French Macron claim to have decided together to take specific action on Ukraine.
He says: “Russia cannot and must not win this war”. He continues by stating that the UK and France have “the same resolve” and desire to create a durable and amicable peace.
Macron says the two nations have met with young talent and business people from the UK and France who he claims will be important participants in the future as he concludes his speech in French.
According to Macron, the 36th summit is unlike any other since it features redoubled ambition and tangible successes.
He ends by expressing his gratitude to Rishi Sunak for travelling to Paris today, and the PM answers by praising Macron.
Next, Macron discusses the topic of illegal immigration. He declares that he wants to advance “lockstep” with the UK.
He claims to be aware of the “great sensitivity” of the issues of illegal immigration as well as the “human difficulties” surrounding them.
He mentioned the networks of organized crime that were destroyed as a result of the efforts of France and the UK, as well as the 30,000 small boat crossings that were stopped last year.
The two countries, he claims, have resolved, “must act jointly in a completely shared framework,” and have increased coordination of their efforts.
