Army chief briefed on CPEC security in Gwadar

RAWALPINDI: Army chief General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday visited Gwadar, where he was briefed on security of the mega project China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Bol News reported.

The Chief of Army Staff was also apprised about the current security situation, operational readiness of the formation and efforts to make the environment secure and peaceful.

On February 5, Army chief Asim Munir had arrived in London to discuss strategic matters related to security, on invitation of the UK Ministry of Defence, Bol News had reported.

Asim Munir began his five-day tour to the UK from February 6. During his visit, important forces commanders were also accompanying him.

After taking charge of the COAS officer in the end of November, 2022, it was Asim Munir’s first visit to the United Kingdom.

He also addressed 5th joint UK-Pakistan Stability Conference in Walton Park held from February 5 to 8.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army had paid homage to Kashmiri people on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
