On March 2, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had issued notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) MNAs against approving their resignations, Bol News reported.

The PTI’s MNAs had pleaded to the court to immediately hear their petition. “What is the emergency? Why did you come,” the SHC chief justice had asked.

PTI lawyer Shahab Imam had said the plea should be heard right away as the by-elections were scheduled to be held on March 16. “You have set the date for hearing on March 21, by then elections would be held,” he had said.

The chief justice had said the court would settle the case after hearing the arguments. Shahab Imam said millions of rupees would be wasted if ballot papers got printed. The high court chief justice had said why he was creating a sentimental environment. “We will announce a verdict in accordance with the law,” he said issuing notice to the ECP. The SHC fixed hearing of the case on March 7.
