Security forces foil terror bid in Chaman

QUETTA: Security forces conducted a major operation in Chaman and foiled a terrorism incident, Bol News reported.

According to reports, the security forces recovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition during an operation in Sui Kariz in Chaman, a town located near the Pak-Afghan border.

The personnel recovered ten suicide jackets weighing 10-kg each and 270 kilogrammes of explosives. They also found circuits, detonators, fuses, remotes used in explosions in large quantities.

The intelligence-based operation was carried out on a tipoff. No one was injured or killed in the operation.

Earlier today, at least nine personnel of the law enforcement agencies were martyred and 13 were injured in a suicide attack on Balochistan Constabulary in Bolan area.

Senior Superintendent Police Kachi Mohammad Notezai said the blast occurred on the Kambri bridge, an area bordering with the Sibi and Kachhi districts,”

He said preliminary evidence suggested that the explosion was a suicide attack which was later confirmed by federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Soon after the explosion, the district administration reached the spot and shifted the victims to the nearby hospital. Personnel of law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the arrest of the culprits.

Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss of police personnel in the incident.

He said those creating law and order will be brought to justice. He said all conspiracies against peace in the province will be made unsuccessful with the public’s support. He also conveyed his sympathies to the families of the martyred.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended condolences a nd prayers to the families of the martyred policemen and termed them as the “nation’s heroes”

He said terrorism in Balochistan was part of a nefarious design to create instability in the country. He said the nation paid tribute to the valour of its martyred troops.
