LHC to hear Imran Khan’s protective bail plea tomorrow

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) will hear the plea for protective bail filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Monday (tomorrow), Bol News reported.

The lawyers for PTI chairman rushed to file petitions for protective bail in the high court after the Islamabad Police sought to arrest the former prime minister.

They faced immense delay as the court office was closed duet to the weekend. They even visited the residence of the LHC Registrar to accept the applications.

The LHC Registrar eventually accepted three applications for protective bail and numbered them. The applications will be heard tomorrow morning.

Advocate Azhar Siddique said the matter is now before the court after the bail application have been submitted. He said it will be a contempt of court if any attempts are made to arrest Imran Khan.

He said police cannot arrest Imran Khan as the matter has been placed before the court. He said the court will take action if police arrests Imran Khan. He confirmed the bail applications will be filed tomorrow.

Imran Khan filed a petition in Lahore High Court seeking protective bail after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a non-bailable arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case.

The bail petition was filed after the Islamabad police reached his Zaman Park residence to arrest him after his non-bailable arrest warrant was issued.

PTI senior leadership Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry left for LHC to submit the protective bail plea.

The petition leaded to grant 15 days of protective bail so that the Imran Khan can appear before court.

Islamabad Police have arrived at Zaman Park in Lahore to arrest Imran Khan but he was not present. A large number of party activists gathered outside over his imminent arrest.

Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal issued arrest warrant for Imran Khan. The court said the PTI chief did not appear on his previous hearing date.
