WhatsApp, the instant messaging software, has received a new update via the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version to 2.23.5.9. The most recent update includes two new features: the option to report a status update and an always-available “mute” capability.
Providing a status update
The application’s new beta release adds the option to provide status updates. Users can report status updates that they believe violate the “Terms of Service.”

The feature was already available to select beta testers who downloaded the WhatsApp beta for the iOS 23.4.0.74 update through the TestFlight app, and it is now available to users on the most recent Android beta.
Any status that a user reports will be routed to WhatsApp for moderation. If the moderation staff discovers that the account breaches their “Terms of Service,” it may be suspended from WhatsApp.

The feature does not jeopardize end-to-end encryption, which protects texts and calls on all devices. It implies that no one, not even WhatsApp, Meta, or a proxy provider, can read your messages or listen in on your private calls.
Always-available Mute button
Furthermore, some users may notice a mute button within their message alerts. WhatsApp has already implemented this functionality in 2017, albeit the mute button was only available after receiving a significant amount of messages from a contact or group. Following this update, the mute button is always visible in all circumstances.
