The Pitch Perfect star Anna Camp is prominently featured in the first photographs from Shudder’s newest, exclusive horror flick From Black.
The film’s star, Camp, plays Cora, a bereaved mother and ex-drug user who is seeking closure for her son’s disappearance five years ago. She is given a peculiar opportunity to make things right and get the comfort she has long desired, but the price is so high that she wonders how far she will go to find redemption.
Shudder released the photos along with the news that the spooky thriller will start streaming only on the service on April 14.
Cora’s sorrow permeates all of the pictures she appears in. She clearly has been through a lot, as evidenced by her expression as she listens to another person at what appears to be a clinic and her thousand-yard gaze out a window.
Additional photographs show that the police become engaged along the way, whether it’s to look for Cora’s son or to prevent Cora from accepting any offers that are made to her.
The real terror is when the monster is revealed: a veiny, horned demon with no eyes dressed in a dress that appears amongst a circle of candles. This reveals that the price Cora must pay is a supernatural one.
There are also a few other unsettling glimpses of a woman sitting in a hallway and a figure tearing open the curtains in a darkened restroom.
