Saudi Arabia has introduced new bottles of Zamzam water, about a month ahead of the beginning of Ramadan, the peak season for Umrah.
People coming for Umrah or Hajj from all around the world carry bottles of Zamzam water with them back home as gifts.
Senior officials from the government organisation in charge of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina and the Grand Mosque in Makkah were present in the ceremony where Chief of the General Presidency for Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Abdul Rahman Al Sudais unveiled the packs.

Al Sudais emphasised the significance of taking health measures when giving the water bottles, in a speech.
According to the official, who was quoted in a statement issued by the presidency, the service ought to be in keeping with the “value of this blessed water” and the strong interest the Saudi government has shown in serving for both mosques and worshippers. Zamzam is also made available to worshippers at the Grand Mosque via containers, mobile bags, and smart carts, all of which, according to authorities, are routinely cleaned and sanitised in accordance with hygiene standards.
Amid spread of coronavirus in 2022, robots were used to distribute Zamzam bottles among the Hajj pilgrims in the holy site in a bid to avoid transmission of the viral disease.
Zamzam is also well-liked by international pilgrims who give it as gifts to family and friends after returning home.
