After a car in Derby collided with a home, a 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged.

At 02:30 GMT on Saturday, according to Derbyshire Police, a collision took place in Grampian Way, close to the Swallowdale Road roundabout.

Once it was stolen from a nearby property, police had just started to pursue the car.

The boy is charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance, and aggravated car theft.

The kid, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday in Southern Derbyshire.

According to the police, the collision took place when an officer came upon the stolen Volkswagen Sharan from Stenson Road.

The automobile struck the house after “a handful of seconds” of pursuit.

The youngster was detained at the scene and sent to the hospital out of an abundance of caution, but no significant injuries were discovered.

Initially, police said that structural engineers had discovered the house was so severely damaged that it would have to be torn down along with the neighboring property.

Later, the force emphasized that this was untrue and that investigations “as to the structural integrity of the buildings” were still ongoing.

Following the collision, a portion of Grampian Way is still closed, and residents have been warned not to approach the properties “because to the threat they provide.”
