She has an extensive and diversified record that includes starring roles in the Twilight movies, a supporting role in David Cronenberg’s weird horror film Crimes of the Future, and eventually, an Oscar nomination for the role of Spencer. She came across as the ideal blend of enthusiastic and supportive in this situation, making the ideal partner in O’Brian’s view. This helped the actress feel at ease in what is likely her largest major role to date. Stewart received nothing but praise from O’Brian, who added:
It’s always a treat, Kristen, to work with someone who has been in the business for a very long time. She has appeared in some of the most well-known films ever made. The news that Katy O’Brian would be starring alongside Kristen Stewart in Rose Glass and A24’s newest movie, Love Lies Bleeding, broke last summer. The actress is presently enjoying success with both Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Mandalorian Season 3, but in this intimate bodybuilding romantic thriller about “a romance fueled by ego, desire, and the American Dream,” she will get to be one of the main attractions. The movie is supposedly aiming for a 2023 release, however since it was first announced, information on the movie and its premise has been fairly lacking.

“There were many Saint Maud-like scenes in the original script. Such as body horror of that nature. We sort of needed to consolidate it more, I suppose. Although I’m eager to watch the finished product, I believe the love story and the thriller elements will take center stage. So it’s a romantic thriller with a hint of the West. It’s filmed in a Western-style. It’s so original and fascinating, and only Rose’s mind could have thought of it. She has an unmatched creativity. I believe [she] has a really, really special sense of storytelling. She creates tales that are either never told or, if they are, are conveyed in incredibly original ways. Working with her and getting to make a movie where there isn’t just action or kicking butt or anything else was fantastic. I truly felt like I got to connect to a character more than I ever have before because it’s such a heartbreaking narrative. You cry for a moment, then you laugh. I genuinely believe it to be a truly wonderful story, and I cannot wait for people to see it.
Weronika Tofilska is listed as a co-writer for Love Lies Bleeding, thus Glass won’t be working in the writing room by herself. Tofilka has only written for short films thus far, but she has begun to get recognition as a filmmaker after taking the helm of one episode of His Dark Materials. They set up a tangled, convoluted, and heartbreaking romantic thriller together.
