The family of Supreme Court Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has rejected all allegations against the honourable judge and an audio clip leak circulated on social media and termed a well-planned drive to defame the judiciary of Pakistan.
A family member of Justice Naqvi regretted the said audio was leaked with clear aims and objectives to blackmail the judiciary, play with the truth and lessen the trust of Pakistani people in the justice system of the country, adding that the leaks were made with the “clear intention” of undermining public confidence in the justice system.
He said, “The audio in question, which is several months old and a short part of a call between the then Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi and Mr. Justice Naqvi regarding the incident that took place on September 10, 2022.
A family member said Justice Naqvi was traveling in his official vehicle, driving himself, when he was stopped by traffic police warden Ashfaq near Shadman U-turn in Lahore, Punjab.

The warden objected to the glass windows of the vehicle despite repeatedly stating that it was an official vehicle of the Supreme Court, and that tinted glasses were present for safety and security reasons. However, the warden did not allow the justice to leave.
A wireless communication was then sent to the police department and then senior officials – Inspector General of Police, CCPO Lahore, DIG Operations, Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, and SSP Operations personally intervened in the matter and decided to make an inquiry into the issue. Then Justice Naqvi left for his house.
And then he was met by the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister who requested Justice Naqvi speak to the Chief Minister through his (Principal Secretary’s) phone.
The family sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Elahi wanted to apologize for whatever happened.
Despite Justice Naqvi’s resistance, everyone can now hear in this audio clip that the then Chief Minister came to Justice Naqvi’s official residence but after some time.
“Now that this audio is going viral, the clear motive is to blackmail the judiciary and tamper with the truth to undermine public confidence in an excellent, respected judge of the Supreme Court.”
Everyone should be identified as cowardly, selfish enemies of the state of Pakistan, he added.
Family sources reject the allegations made by Mian Dawood Advocate in the reference filed against Justice Naqvi.
He said that the justice did not get any financial benefit from Zahid Rafiq. He claimed that “not a single case decision related to his company.
