Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital has said goodbye to Meredith Grey of Grey’s Anatomy.
Ellen Pompeo played Meredith on ABC’s popular medical drama for 19 seasons, beginning in 2005. In the 400 episodes she has appeared in over the years, her character has gone through every possible transformation. Meredith Grey began her career as an intern before moving on to become a surgical resident. She was then promoted to attending surgeon, and finally to chief of surgery.
Meredith Grey experienced a number of traumatic and dramatic events in addition to changes in her profession. For example, she drowned and put her hand inside a patient’s body that contained a bomb. She even asked a gunman to shoot her, and she got COVID as a result.

All of these plotlines demonstrate Meredith’s roller-coaster ride on the show. As a result, it’s only fitting that Ellen Pompeo’s popular and beloved character says her final goodbyes to the show after all these years. This is the only viable way for the series’ storylines to progress.
Meredith Grey left in what way?
Meredith Grey decides to leave Boston with her three children as her run on the medical drama comes to an end. However, there is some drama in this episode. Meredith was previously seen confessing her feelings to surgeon Nick Marsh (played by Scott Speedman), but he did not reciprocate her feelings.

When he expressed his disappointment that Meredith was leaving, she told him,”I want you in my life if you want to be in my life. But if I have to choose, I’m going to pick me, I pick my kids and I pick what’s best for us. And I am not going to beg you to love me.” This was a classic callback to her Derek in which she tells him, Season “Pick me. Choose me. Love me.” This shows that her character has grown a lot.
Later, Nick rushes to the airport to confess his feelings, but when he realises he might not make it in time, he calls Meredith and confesses his feelings over the phone.
Meredith, aka Ellen Pompeo, will continue to provide the series’ voiceovers. She is also expected to make guest appearances from time to time.
