Janelle James from Abbott Elementary provided the humorous justification for her interruption of Sheryl Lee Ralph at the Golden Awards.

In January, Ralph, 66, took the stage to accept the prize for best music or comedy series. She thanked the crowd and said the victory “proves God is wonderful.” James interjected with a special shout-out: “I love you Mom!” while her co-star spoke on.

I was inebriated, she admitted to Jennifer Hudson. The 41-year-old presenter of The Jennifer Hudson Show said, “Well, you had fun.

“Anything else, I suppose? Free beverages” James joked. To avoid disrespecting Ms Sheryl Lee Ralph, I texted my mother and said, “I’m going to talk to my mum.”

She said, “Y’all saw Sheryl was heating up, she wasn’t going to let me say it, you know what I mean?” in reference to her costar’s renowned for giving stirring acceptance speeches.

James may be “new to Hollywood,” but she has 11 years of standup comedy experience, including tours with Chris Rock and Amy Schumer.

She entered the awards show circuit for the first time this season, and she was not pleased with the scheduling of the Globes.

“The Golden Globes were held about two weeks after Christmas and Thanksgiving. For instance, a man intended that “said James. We have to fit into these gowns, and because I ate everything, I am definitely still getting used to Hollywood.

James also revealed to Hudson that, prior to Abbott, she had never considered herself an actress and wanted to stick to humor. Quinta Brunson, the show’s creator and star, wrote the pilot, and she thought it was “so amusing” that she had to at least try to participate in the show.

James remembered that he texted Quinta, whom he had only ever met once, saying, “I read your pilot, it’s extremely excellent, I believe I’m going to try to audition.” I replied, “I don’t know whether I do either, but I’m going to try,” to her comment, “I didn’t know you act!”

Her efforts paid off; Principal Ava Coleman, the character she played, soon won over fans, and since the show’s 2021 premiere, James has received nominations for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Critics Choice Award.
