One week left to avail free tickets for King Charles Coronation Concert

  • Royal family announces 5,000 people will get a pair of tickets.
  • Tickets will allow to attend a performance in Windsor Castle.
  • The event will bring together modern performers for the Coronation.

The royal family reminded citizens on Tuesday that there is only one week left to join the ticket poll for the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle.

The poll for the ceremony commemorating the Coronation of the King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla at Windsor Castle started on February 9th.

As many as 5,000 members of the public will be chosen to get a pair of complimentary tickets to attend a performance in the grounds of Windsor Castle on Sunday, May 7th, for the first time ever.

“You can apply for a ticket by visiting the Coronation Concert website anytime until 2359hrs on Tuesday, 28th February. The 10,000 tickets will be allocated based on the geographical spread of the UK population and not on a first-come first-served basis. Winners will all be selected after the 28th February, so there is as much chance of being selected if an application is made on the 28th February as on the 10th February,” said a statement.

The event, which will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, and supported throughout the full BBC network, will bring together musical luminaries and modern performers in celebration of this momentous occasion.

The concert, which will be attended by volunteers from The King and Queen Consort’s many charity affiliations, will feature a world-class orchestra performing interpretations of musical favourites fronted by some of the world’s biggest entertainers, as well as performers from the worlds of dance and the arts. The performances will be accompanied by staging and effects on the Castle’s East Lawn, as well as a variety of spoken word sequences given by theatre and cinema stars.

The remaining tickets will be distributed to charity organisations, including those that promote young people, the military, the environment, and those who serve their local communities and the Commonwealth as a whole.
