Prince Harry should be permitted to travel with police protection, but he must foot the bill, according to the findings of a YouGov poll.
As Harry and Meghan Markle ceased serving as working royals in 2020, they are no longer eligible for government-provided protection.
More than half of the participants believed the prince should be protected, but 37% believed he must provide it on his own.
28 percent of people believed he should not have any police protection at all.
On February 20, YouGov conducted a survey of 2584 people asking, “Do you think Prince Harry should or shouldn’t be entitled to police protection whilst in Britain?”
After his right to security was revoked, the Duke of Sussex filed a lawsuit against the Home Office, which has so far cost the taxpayer approximately £300,000.
Despite the fact that security is currently present at official events like Frogmore Cottage, he has claimed that his family would need continual protection while they are in the UK.
Former Scotland Yard chief John O’Connor told The Sun that expecting the government to offer protection is conceited and unreasonable.
“Well, that is just vanity. He simply requests protection because he believes that without it, his importance is diminished.
If the couple choose to go, it will mark their first public appearance at a royal event since the publication of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary and memoirs Spare, which contained several negative allegations about the Firm.
But, it’s reported that the King is worried that their absence would be noticed more than their presence.
Another potential issue for Harry and Meghan is that the Coronation, which will take place on May 6, coincides with the fourth birthday of their son Archie.
A couple’s pal told The Telegraph: “It’s difficult. There are countless distinct factors. The situation is understandable to anybody.”
Harry has claimed he is eager to seek peace with his family and is aware that it will be “very much the most important day” of his father’s life.
In the upcoming days, invites are anticipated to be sent out.
The pal continued: “When they reach that bridge, they will cross it. They lack understanding. They are stuck.”
