When Kate Middleton went to the Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough this morning, she found it difficult to create a pancake.
The Princess of Wales participated in a Shrove Tuesday pancake-making activity with two of the chefs at the family-run nursing home.
The monarch, though, appeared to give in to the pressure and was seen on camera struggling to move the concoction about the pan.
The elderly home’s inhabitants and a number of reporters were all looking at the princess as she struggled behind the cooker and awkwardly smiled.
Kate tried to stir the mixture with a spatula, checking to see whether it was time to flip it by asking one of the chefs for guidance.
The king remarked, “See, here is where I go wrong, I always attempt to turn them too quickly,” when told to wait.
As the seconds passed, Kate continued to have trouble raising the edges of the pancake that was growing since they looked to be stuck to the pan.
The hush around her and the 41-year-performance old’s seemed to humiliate her more.
There is no pressure here, the chef assured the Princess, hoping to alleviate her fears.
Although it appeared to have become wrinkled up by her prior tries with the spatula, Kate successfully flipped the treat once she was able to remove the mixture from the pan.
She then apologized to the chef and said: “All of the prior versions are far nicer than this one. I apologies. I haven’t treated you fairly. Would you mind demonstrating to them how to do it correctly?”
She also made fun of the fact that she had shown how “not to make” a pancake and referred to her creation as a “congealed goo.”
Despite Kate, who is renowned for being an avid cook, seemed a little dejected after her performance, admirers were quick to compliment her for being persistent in her efforts.
“For your persistence and for not giving up when the going gets rough such amazing attributes, congrats,” one Twitter user, @GigiNapalan, commented on the social media site.
She is the best, tweeted the proprietor of Kate and Prince William’s fan account @lovefamilywales.
Kate engaged in additional activities while visiting the nursing home, such as playing football on an interactive table that the centre had purchased in 2020 to enhance the lives of the residents during the height of the coronavirus lockdown.
The Princess also discovered that Nora, a 109-year-old resident, was born in January, the same month as her.
