• LHC restored Gujrat as a division, Wazirabad as district
• The court suspended the notification by caretaker govt
• High court issued notice to Punjab govt and others

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday suspended the Punjab caretaker government notification and restored Gujrat as a division and Wazirabad as a district.

The case was heard by Justice Shahid Karim in Lahore High Court and notices were issued to the Punjab government and others.

Earlier on February 15, the Mohsin Naqvi-led caretaker government suspended the notifications for the creation of the new administrative division of Gujrat, districts of Murree, Wazirabad, Talagang and Kot Addu, besides Jalalpur Jattan and Kunjah tehsils, till the holding of general elections in the province.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi last year announced the formation of five new districts in the province.
