Eoin Morgan, one of the most successful cricketers in recent memory and the man who led England to their first-ever ODI World Cup victory, has announced his retirement from all professional cricket.

On Monday, Morgan posted a message on Twitter saying goodbye to his historic cricketing career.

In June of last year, the former England captain announced the end of his international career.

Morgan became the first captain to lead England to World Cup victory in 2019 throughout his 13-year international career with England. The left-handed batsman was also a member of the England team that won the 2010 T20 World Cup in the West Indies.

In both ODIs and T20Is, the left-handed batsman has scored the most runs for England Men overall and has received the most caps. Morgan scored 6,957 runs, including 13 hundreds, at an average of 39.75 in his record-breaking 225 ODIs.

The highest performance by an England captain in ODIs was Morgan’s 76 triumphs at a winning percentage of 60% in his 126 games as captain. But in T20Is, he led the English team in 72 games, tying MS Dhoni of India for the most in the limited-overs category.

With 17 sixes against Afghanistan in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, he also holds the record for the most sixes in an ODI inning.
