Raveena claims Karan is still angry with her for declining KKHH

  • Raveena Tandon declined Karan Johar’s offer to work in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai due to financial constraints.
  • She called Kajol her ‘contemporary’ and wanted to take lead roles just like her.
  • Kuch Kuch Hota starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji in prominent roles.

In an interview, actress Raveena Tandon explained why she turned down Karan Johar’s offer to appear in his movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). She claimed that Karan is still unhappy about what she did at the time. She claimed that she was unable to afford tiny film gigs at the time. She referred to Kajol as her “contemporary” and aspired to play the major role. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji all had significant parts in Kuch Kuch Hota.

Raveena claimed in an interview with Smita Prakash for ANI that Karan has not yet forgave her for declining his offer to appear in his movie. “Karan still holds me responsible for not acting in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, although at the time he didn’t understand because Kajol was my coworker. Since Rani and I both had main roles when we first began out, I was unable to take the lead role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was lesser than Rani’s. Because she was a newcomer and suddenly she thought, “Oh my goodness, this is wonderful, you know,” Rani benefited from it. I informed Karan that this was the difference that would have occurred.

She proceeded by stating: “Simply put, I preferred to position myself more as an actor than to once again perform a project that consisted of only five scenes and five superhit songs. So even today, it still happens that people only think of me in terms of my hit songs, which is actually a problem. People often bring up my songs when I go out, but what about the performances?”

In an interview with the Talent Next launch, Karan expressed his disappointment at the many top actors who turned down offers to appear in his film. I had questioned everyone, he said. Uss film mai main bhikari ban chuka (I bacme a beggar already). I had already received eight rejections for the Rani Mukerjee role. I feared that if I couldn’t find someone to play Rani’s part, I could have to perform in the movie while wearing a short skirt. Mujhe laga, agar koi na mile toh mujhe khud short skirt pehen ke woh role karna padega.

Karan Johar was the film’s director, and Yash Johar was the producer. At a celebration for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s 20th anniversary in 2018, Shah Rukh referred to the movie’s original plot as being “utterly ridiculous.” “Karan arrived and told me a completely absurd rubbish tale, which is unquestionably not the one that you people ultimately saw in the film,” he remarked. Karan, the verbose man, tried to impress me in his peculiar way with his mediocre tale. So, yeah, when I signed up, I truly did not comprehend the plot. and I’m pleased I just continued with Karan’s belief rather than becoming entangled in the tale because otherwise the movie would not have been the way it came out.”

Last seen in KGF: Chapter 2, Raveena. She will soon be seen with Sanjay Dutt in Ghudchadi. Her next projects include the second season of her Netflix online series Aranyak as well as Arbaaz Khan’s Patna Shukla.
