Mehwish discussed her experience working on Punjab Nahi Jaungi Vs Ms Marvel in a recent interview with Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik. “It’s quite unfortunate, in Pakistani movies, they are always showing actresses as the damsels in distress, the women who always need to be saved (by men), they are there just to add the glamour aspect in the movie,” said Mehwish Hayat in response to Sania Mirza’s question about the stereotypical portrayal of women in Pakistani films.
She further added, “We can show much better original stories; if a South Korean show can be most watched on Netflix, why can’t we make anything and trend on Netflix? I played the character of Ayesha (the great grandmother of Kamala Khan) in Ms. Marvel. Being part of the original story, I had a lot to emote in it, and I enjoyed doing it.”
