Following the death of a man who was discovered injured in a parking lot in Canvey Island, a murder enquiry has been launched.
According to Essex Police, at at 01:45 GMT, officers were called to the Iceland parking lot in Furtherwick Road on Canvey Island.
The man, who was in his 40s, was allegedly assaulted not long ago next to The Haystack bar, according to the police.
Long Road and Furtherwick Road have been cordoned off.
The Canvey town centre would be disrupted throughout the day, the police warned.
Detectives have urged anyone with knowledge to get in touch with the police.
Det Ch Insp Greg Wood said: “I want to extend my condolences to the family of the man who has died.
“There is a team of officers and staff working hard to establish what happened to him and we are starting to build a picture of the circumstances around the assault.
“If you saw what happened, or have any other information about the assault then I need you to contact us.”
