Barcelona defeated Real Betis 2-1 on Wednesday, increasing their advantage at the top of La Liga to eight points thanks to goals from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.
Before Raphinha converted on Alejandro Balde’s cross, Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva produced a series of outstanding stops to prevent Pedri from scoring.
Borja Iglesias and Sergio Canales nearly scored for Betis, but Jules Kounde stopped them. Betis also had chances to score.
Barcelona finally broke the deadlock after 65 minutes when Raphinha tapped the ball into the goals from close range. Lewandowski then scored his 14th goal of the season 15 minutes later to make it 2-0.
Despite the threat posed by Kounde’s own goal in the 85th minute, Barcelona managed to hold on and earn three points.
With the victory, Barcelona solidified their position atop the standings with 50 points from 19 games, eight points more than Real Madrid in second place, who will play Valencia on Thursday.
