Azerbaijan’s officials urges Iran to punish perpetrators

  • Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns attack on country’s Embassy in Tehran.
  • Azerbaijani officials urge Iran to punish perpetrators.
  • And those who gave order for the attack as soon as possible and as severely as possible.

“We strongly condemn the treacherous terrorist attack against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign affairs in a statement on a terrorist attack on the country’s Embassy in Tehran.

“As the country where the embassy is located, the Iranian side had to fulfill its obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations to ensure the security of the Embassy and its employees.

There have been prior attempts to endanger our diplomatic mission in Iran, and Iran has frequently heard about the need to take action to stop such occurrences and guarantee the security of our diplomatic missions.

Unfortunately, the most recent terrible terrorist assault serves as a stark warning of the serious implications of not responding appropriately to our repeated requests in this area.

We believe that recent Iranian anti-Azerbaijani propaganda directed at our nation has inspired attacks on our diplomatic presence.

We vehemently urge that Iran find and punish the terrorist attack’s perpetrators and those who gave the order as soon as possible and as severely as feasible.

The Azerbaijani side will take advantage of all the chances provided by the pertinent international mechanisms to find the culprits and make sure they receive the just punishment they deserve.

In the event that a situation arises following the terrorist assault, it is also planned to take the necessary steps to evacuate the embassy staff and their families, the ministry noted.
